History
A little context to set the scene:

One day, somewhere out in the depths of space, a Celestial Dragon finally succeeds in escaping from the evil Witch Queen who had imprisoned it, subjecting it to all manner of experiments and torment, all in a bid to unlock its true potential and steal its powers for herself. But the escape, while successful, doesn't go smoothly: the dragon's aether — her life-essence, her magical core, her very soul — is shattered, the broken fragments taking the form of ethereal crystalline feathers. While she falls to Earth, weak and confused, with no memory of who or what she is, they are scattered across space and time.

The Feathers cause all kinds of chaos (dubbed "Anomalies" in-universe) on Earth. Think Monster of the Week: sometimes it's monsters (such as mutated animals or inanimate objects given life), or human villains, where a regular human finds (or is found by) a Feather and gains some kind of power. Sometimes it's just … bizarre, like paintings turning into a portal to another world, or board games sucking in their players.

Which finally brings us to Yuzuki! As far as he knows, he's an Anomaly — a wish, a dream, brought to life by Kurokawa Yuina; a sad, scared little girl who desperately needed a friend. He was her shadow, her imaginary friend, her loyal monster under the bed. She was, and is, the light of his life; the other half of his heart. His sister. His reason. There's nothing he wouldn't do for her.

And for years, it's — well, it's not always fine, but they have each other. Yuzuki does as shadows do, sticking close, keeping her company and doing everything he can to keep her safe and happy. And then, one day, shortly after their sixteenth birthday, she's ripped away from him. He doesn't fully remember what happened; all he has is flashes. Blood, screaming, and roiling shadows. Laughter. His magic spiralling out of control. Failing her. Losing her.

His life takes a dark turn after that. Lost, viciously angry, and desperate for an outlet and some semblance of purpose, he sets himself up as a mercenary. Stealing, spying, protection gigs, occasional brutal violence and even assassinations — the works. It doesn't fill the void. He tells himself it's better than nothing. He tells himself he's got everything under control. It's fine. He's fine.

He's Fine for a while … and then Yuina is dangled in front of him like a carrot on a string. She's alive. Gone, but alive. Trapped, but alive. He's offered a deal: work for the Witch Queen, and when she has what she wants, Yuzuki can have what he wants. He can have his sister back. And while Yuzuki doesn't trust this asshole — Nil, the Witch Queen's lieutenant — as far as he can throw him, he can't say no. He can't.

He doesn't. The work is similar to what he'd already been doing, for the most part, but on the flipside there's a big difference between picking and choosing requests from human clients, and being metaphorically leashed by a supervillain hell-bent on gaining Phenomenal Cosmic Power.

Also, spoiler alert? It later turns out that he's not just an Anomaly. He's also kind of a celestial dragon. It's a little "accidental frankenstein's monster" and a little "tiny sparks that grew into a wildfire, and that wildfire blossomed into a star," where the sparks in question were a particularly powerful magic feather, Yuina's wish for connection, and the scattered aether of a few dead dragons. All of this comes to light well after his canon-point.

Personality
Yuzuki sees himself as a living weapon. He's a shadow, the monster under the bed; he's plenty of people's worst nightmare. He is his job, and he's damn good at it. Being dangerous comes naturally to him, or so he'd say. … And, to be fair, he's not entirely wrong! He is dangerous. He's caused plenty of damage and devastation. Hurt and killed plenty of people, and not all of them deserved it. Some did, and he's not above enjoying himself on those occasions. He will lie, cheat, and steal without batting an eye.

Control is important to him, whether it's over himself, his (ugh) feelings (UGH), his magic, his actions and so on, or more external. He prides himself on being cool, calm, and collected; on knowing the game and playing it well, no matter the odds. He knows who and what he is (or so he thinks). He knows exactly what he wants, and he'll stop at nothing to get it.

… It's significantly harder for him to admit, outloud, to other people (and sometimes even to himself) — because he's a cool calm collected assassin who doesn't give a fuck in the first place, so there to open up is to be vulnerable, and vulnerability and pain are synonymous — that what he wants is his family. He wants them to be safe and happy. He wants them to be free. He cares so, so much. He's just. He's … kind of a tsundere. A giant "crispy coating over a soft gooey center" tsundere. He's desperately unused to softness, and he spends a not insignificant amount of time spinning in frantic confused circles on the inside anytime he's confronted with things like 'feelings' and 'friendship' and 'people caring about him and his well-being' and 'letting himself have or do nice things because they're nice and he wants to'.

He's kind of an ass. Sometimes he's a downright bastard! And he's generally aloof and reluctant to let people in, preferring to keep his cards close to his chest. But he's kinder than he'd ever give himself credit for, and somewhere beneath that thin veneer of Oh So Smoothness is a dumbass who loves musical theater, pretty clothes, nailing that neat new trick he's been practicing, and putting on the best goddamn shadow plays this side of anywhere.

Powers and abilities
❖ He's a highly skilled assassin with inhuman strength, agility, endurance, and durability. He's functionally immortal, and while he can certainly be hurt, it takes a lot to make anything stick.

❖ Ridiculously powerful hearing. If he lets himself (i.e. doesn't use noise cancellation magic), he can hear pretty much anything and everything. Super useful, especially in his line of work! But it's also something of a nightmare, and it can be used against him.

❖ He's a master of shadow magic: he can create them, manipulate them, talk to and understand them, travel through them, become one himself, weave them into objects, make clones and avatars; all kinds of things! He's got a generous handful of other magics up his sleeve as well — light, glamourie, illusions, concealment, shapeshifting, telepathy, mindreading, dreamwalking, and a low-key affinity for water.

❖ He has no idea that he'll eventually unlock the ability to perceive and interact with the Song of the Universe. Everyone and everything, magical and mundane, no matter how small, has its own part.

❖ As a Starsinger dragon, he's made of magic. It diffuses through every aspect of his being, and that means his blood — and other bodily fluids, WINK — is incredibly potent. It's a hell of a stimulant, delicious as fuck, and potentially addictive.

QUESTIONNAIRE

Is your character willing to have sex and able to give informed consent?
Yes.

What is the wish your character made? Why did they make it?
With the exception of the initial handful of months after losing Yuina — when he truly was at rock bottom, lost and grieving and furious in his hurt, aimlessly lashing out in a desperate attempt to fill the void with something — pretty much everything he's done has been in the service of his goal: saving her.

She, along with dozens of others, is trapped within an Anomaly — a prison of sorts, like a dream world except it's all too real, where the inmates are toyed with and forced to participate in 'games'. The more they struggle and fight, the more they feel for themselves, for each other, and for their captors and their circumstances, the more fuel can be harvested. It sucks!

His wish is to end it and bring her home, and hopefully free himself from the Witch Queen in the process. He's tired of being on her leash. If that latter point doesn't work out … well, damn. (Read as: the Witch Queen is a heinous piece of shit! She's terrifying! He hates her and he wants to get as far, far, far away as possible!) Luckily he'll have time in Decadia to think up contingency plans!

How will your character initially react to Decadia's setting?
Yuzuki has spent the better part of the last decade on a very short leash, and contorting himself into all sorts of fun shapes to find some slack. Even with the whole contract and 24/7 hour sexy entertainment thing, Decadia will be a bewildering breath of fresh air. He's not used to having this kind of … freedom? Or having a job that doesn't involve copious amounts of blood and often other people's tears?

He'll put on a good show of being put together and knowing what he's doing. And he does genuinely enjoy putting on a show! He's a performer at heart, and while he's never so much as kissed anyone, he does have a fair bit of experience with flirting and such — it's a pretty useful tool.

But booooy is it going to take some getting used to.

Also, he's too suspicious by nature to take Decadia fully for granted. He will be wondering what's going on beneath the surface, and he'll be keeping his eyes and ears open.

What are you most interested in doing with your character in Decadia?
I'm super excited by the prospect of Yuzuki making connections and letting down his walls. Both because new CR is fun and exciting in general, and because the more Yuzuki pulls his head out of his ass, the more honest and true to himself he is, the more opportunities there'll be for his draconic traits to shine through. … His draconic traits he has no idea are a thing, and won't have any context for unless I canon update him somewhere down the line.

I'm also super psyched to explore what happens when you plop a (secretly highly strung) assassin who views himself as a living weapon into a game where he … can't be that. Intimacy is a foreign concept to him, and at some point he's going to start worrying about fucking up and hurting someone by accident. I want to see how he deals with that.

What aspect of sex appeals to your character the most?
He's going to be simultaneously stunned and unsurprised to discover that he freakin' loves exploring, experimenting, and indulging his curiosity. He wants to learn what makes his partners tick and all the various ways he can take them apart. He will relish the opportunity to pin someone down for hours and take his sweet, sweet time wrecking them — as he says in his TDM thread with Macaque, he's a big fan of experiential learning.

What kinks does your character have, known or unknown to them? Why do they have those particular kinks?
This is going to be one hell of a voyage of discovery for Yuzuki, because he has no idea what he's into when it comes to sex. He's probably going to start out thinking that he'll only enjoy himself if he's in control — and while he will have plenty of fun in that role, he's going to be surprised to find that with the right partner, subbing is pretty damn awesome. Vulnerability and trust will be a huge thrill, terrifying but worth the pay-off in the end.

Control is something of a comfort mechanism for Yuzuki, so he's going to enjoy exploring various aspects of it in a more sexual setting. Bondage will be a big one! Over time he'll work his way up to experimenting with shadow magic for this, among other things — but he will need time, and partners he feels safe with, to get there. More specifically, he'll need partners he can trust to handle him if his control slips, and even more specifically, partners he trusts enough to admit he's concerned about his control in the first place.

He's going to love some rough and tumble. Very rough, if he's in the right mood and with the right partner. Sparring is great fun, always has been, he's going to be thrilled when he realises that fighting and flirting can go hand in hand.
